Refunds for licences

Within 14 days of purchase you get the full amount back, as long as the key has not been used. The rule is short because what it protects is simple: if you bought a plan and have not used it, you should not have to explain why you want the money back.

The rule

Within 14 days of purchase, and unused: a full refund. You get the whole amount back, we keep no fee, and nobody asks you anything beyond the order number. After 14 days, or once the licence has been used, we do not refund the purchase.

Paddle handles the payment as our Merchant of Record, which means the seller that runs the sale in its own name. So Paddle issues the refund, to the payment method you paid with.

What counts as use

  • Pro: a conversion started with the key.
  • Visual Edit Pro: the editor key activated on a site.

A refused conversion is not use

html2wp is in beta. When the service cannot do a conversion, it refuses before the run starts and explains why in words. That happens with a site over the page limit, or with a new conversion while the previous one has not yet reported its check results. A conversion the service refused before it ran does not count as use. Neither does a re-run: when you correct the page roles and upload the same site again, that is a re-run, not a second conversion.

Subscriptions: Pro and Visual Edit Pro

The first payment follows the same rule: the full amount back within 14 days, as long as the key has not been used. For Pro that means no conversion was started with the key. For Visual Edit Pro it means the editor is not activated on any site.

After a subscription renewal, monthly or yearly, you can get the money back within 14 days of the renewal charge. The condition is that the Pro or Visual Edit Pro key has not been used since the renewal date. If you meant to cancel and forgot, that is exactly what this rule is for.

Cancelling is not a refund, and does not need one. It stops the next renewal. The period already paid for, a month or a year, keeps working to its end, and the unused part of it is not paid back. The themes you produced in html2wp are yours either way. You cancel on the subscription page, through the link in your Paddle receipt, or by writing to us.

How to ask

  • Through Paddle: the payment confirmation email from Paddle has a link to manage the order at paddle.net. There you ask for the refund directly. Our subscription management page also takes you to the same place.
  • Or write to us at hello@html2wp.dev and include the order number from that confirmation. A person reads your message and answers, usually the same day.

Paddle refunds to the original payment method. How long the money then takes to show up in your account depends on your bank or card issuer, not on us.

After a refund

Once a refund is approved, the key issued with that purchase is blocked automatically. The subscription the key belongs to is cancelled at the same time, so it does not renew. If the cancellation does not go through on its own, the case reaches us and we cancel the subscription by hand.

Chargebacks

A chargeback means you reverse the payment through your bank instead. The keys issued with that payment are blocked in the same way. Asking us or Paddle first is quicker, and within the rule above it gets you the same money back.

Your statutory rights

EU consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal from online purchases. For digital content that right can end once delivery begins with your consent. Paddle's terms for buyers (Buyer Terms) apply it exactly that way: the right ends once you start using the licence.

These rules apply alongside that right, not instead of it. Nothing on this page removes a right the law of your country gives you. The full terms of a purchase are in the service terms and conditions.
